Oproep tot schorsing Russische en Belarussische AIPS-bestuurders

Sportspress.be en NSP hebben samen met Gio Lippens, bestuurslid van AIPS Europe, het initiatief genomen voor een oproep aan de internationale sportjournalistenfederatie om alle Russische en Belarussische bestuurders voorlopig te schorsen. Die oproep, gericht aan het hoofdbestuur van AIPS en van AIPS Europa, wordt inmiddels ondersteund door zestien Europese zusterorganisaties. Mogelijk volgen op een later tijdstip nog meer steunbetuigingen.

De oproep komt nadat een Belarussische vertegenwoordigster weigerde haar taken neer te leggen. Eerder had de Rus Nikolai Dolgopolov wel zijn functie van vicepresident van de AIPS na de Russische invasie in Oekraïne. Dolgopolov is voorzitter van de Russische Federatie van Sportjournalisten, FSJR.

Heden is de volgende verklaring verzonden naar de AIPS en naar de Europese afdeling van AIPS.

The following National Sportspress Associations call upon AIPS to strongly condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

We also request that the Russian and the Belarussian Sportspress Association distance themselves from these acts of war.

Furthermore we demand that for the time being there is no Russian or Belarussian influence in the decision making process at AIPS, at whatever level (global and continental level, committees, etc.).

We ask that any current Russian and Belarussian members of any AIPS committee be suspended until the AIPS Congress convenes and looks further into this matter.
